ECE Syllabus

Networks/Electric Circuits :--Network graphs; incidence, fundamental cut set and fundamental circuit matrices. Solution methods. Network theorems. Steady state sinusoidal analysis using phasors. Linear constant coefficient differential equations; time domain analysis of simple RLC circuits, Solution of network equations using Laplace transform, 2-port network parameters, State equations for networks.

Electronic Devices and Circuits :--Energy bands in silicon, intrinsic and extrinsic silicon. Carrier transport in silicon, Generation and recombination of carriers. p-n junction diode, Zener diode, tunnel diode, BJT, JFET, MOS capacitor, MOSFET, LED, p-I-n and avalanche photo diode, Basics of LASERs. Device technology.
 
Analog and Digital Circuits :--Small Signal Equivalent circuits of diodes, BJTs, MOSFETs and analog CMOS. Simple diode circuits, clipping, clamping, rectifier. Biasing and bias stability of transistor and FET amplifiers. Amplifiers: single-and multi-stage, differential and operational, feedback, and power. Frequency response of amplifiers. Simple op-amp circuits. Filters. Sinusoidal oscillators; criterion for oscillation; single-transistor and op-amp configurations. Function generators and wave-shaping circuits, 555 Timers. Power supplies.Boolean algebra, minimization of Boolean functions; logic gates; digital IC families (DTL, TTL, ECL, MOS, CMOS). Combinatorial circuits: arithmetic circuits, code converters, multiplexers, decoders, PROMs and PLAs. Sequential circuits: latches and flip-flops, counters and shift-registers. Sample and hold circuits, ADCs, DACs. Semiconductor memories. Microprocessor(8085).

Signals and Systems :--Definitions and properties of Laplace transform, continuous-time and discrete-time Fourier series, continuous-time and discrete-time Fourier Transform, DFT and FFT, ztransform.Sampling theorem.Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) Systems; causality, stability, impulse response,convolution, poles and zeros, parallel and cascade structure, frequency response, group delay, phase delay. Signal transmission, through LTI systems.

Control Systems :--Basic control system components; block diagrammatic description, reduction of block diagrams. Open loop and closed loop (feedback) systems and stability analysis of these systems. Signal flow graphs and their use in determining transfer functions of systems; transient and steady state analysis of LTI control systems and frequency response. Tools and techniques for LTI control system analysis, Control system compensators, State variable representation and solution of state equation of LTI control systems.

Communication Systems:--Random signals and noise, Analog communication systems; elements of hardware, realizations of analog communication systems; signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) calculations for amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM) for low noise conditions. Fundamentals of information theory and channel capacity theorem. Digital communication systems, digital modulation schemes. Basics of TDMA, FDMA and CDMA and GSM.

Electromagnetics :--Elements of vector calculus, Maxwell’s equations, Wave equation, Poynting vector. Plane waves, Transmission lines, Waveguides, Basics of propagation in dielectric waveguide and optical fibers. Basics of Antennas.

E&I ELECTRONICS & INSTRUMENTATION SYLLABUS

EEE SYLLABUS

Electric Circuits and Fields:--Network graph, KCL, KVL, node and mesh analysis, transient response of dc and ac networks; sinusoidal steady-state analysis, resonance, basic filter concepts; ideal current and voltage sources, Thevenin’s, Norton’s and Superposition and Maximum Power Transfer theorems, two-port networks, three phase circuits; Gauss Theorem, electric field and potential due to point, line, plane and spherical charge distributions; Ampere’s and Biot-Savart’s laws; inductance; dielectrics; capacitance.

Signals and Systems:--Representation of continuous and discrete-time signals; shifting and scaling operations; linear, time-invariant and causal systems; Fourier series representation of continuous periodic signals; sampling theorem; Fourier, Laplace and Z transforms.

Electrical Machines:--Single phase transformer, three phase transformers, energy conversion principles; DC machines, three phase induction motors, single phase induction motors, synchronous machines, servo and stepper motors.

Power Systems:--Basic power generation concepts; transmission line models and performance; cable performance, insulation; corona and radio interference; distribution systems; per-unit quantities; bus impedance and admittance matrices; load flow; voltage control; power factor correction; economic operation; symmetrical components; fault analysis; principles of over-current, differential and distance protection; solid state relays and digital protection; circuit breakers; system stability concepts, swing curves and equal area criterion; HVDC transmission and FACTS concepts.

Control Systems:--Principles of feedback; transfer function; block diagrams; steady-state errors; Routh and Niquist techniques; Bode plots; root loci; lag, lead and lead-lag compensation; state space model; state transition matrix, controllability and observability.

Electrical and Electronic Measurements:--Bridges and potentiometers; PMMC, moving iron, dynamometer and induction type instruments; measurement of voltage, current, power, energy and power factor; instrument transformers; digital voltmeters and multimeters; phase, time and frequency measurement; Q-meters; oscilloscopes; potentiometric recorders; error analysis.

Analog and Digital Electronics:--Characteristics of diodes, BJT, FET; amplifiers – biasing, equivalent circuit and frequency response; oscillators and feedback amplifiers; operational amplifiers; simple active filters; VCOs and timers; combinational and sequential logic circuits; multiplexer; Schmitt trigger; multi-vibrators; sample and hold circuits; A/D and D/A converters; 8-bit microprocessor basics, architecture, programming and interfacing.

Power Electronics and Drives:--Semiconductor power diodes, transistors, thyristors, triacs, GTOs, MOSFETs and IGBTs; triggering circuits; phase control rectifiers; bridge converters – fully controlled and half controlled; principles of choppers and inverters; basis concepts of adjustable speed dc and ac drives.

Coal India Limited (CIL) - a Schedule 'A' - MAHARATNA Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Coal, Government of India, is the single largest coal producing company in the World and the largest corporate employer with approx 3.8 lakh employees, contributing around 81% of the total coal production in India.


Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical/Mineral, Electronics , Telecommunications, Industrial Engg.
Qualification:
Minimum 60% marks in BE/ B.Tech/ AMIE/B.Sc (Engg.) in relevant branch of Engineering

Systems:
Minimum 60% marks in BE/ B.Tech/ BSc. (Engg) in Computer Science/ Computer Engg. / IT or MCA with minimum 60% marks.

Environment :
Degree in Environmental Engg. with minimum 60% marks Or any Engg. Degree with PG Degree/Diploma in Environmental Engg from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks.

Finance & Accounts:
Qualified CA / ICWA

Personnel & HR :
Graduates with at least two years full time Post Graduate degree /PG Diploma/Post Graduate Program in Management with specialization in HR/Industrial Relations/Personnel Management or MHROD or MBA or Master of Social work with specialization in HR from recognized Indian University/Institutes with minimum 60% marks.

Legal :
Graduate in Law of 3yrs/5yrs duration from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks
Sales & Marketing Recognised degree with MBA /PG Diploma in Management with specialization in Marketing (major) from Institute / University with minimum 60% marks

SELECTION PROCESS:
Eligible candidates will be required to appear in the All India Selection Test at their own expenses and only candidates qualifying in the written test will be called for Personal Interview in the ratio of 1:3 (3 candidates called against 1 vacancy) keeping in view the provision of reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH. Management reserves the right to shortlist the candidates for written test also.

APPLICATION FEE:
Candidates belonging to General/OBC (NCL) is required to pay a non-refundable fees of Rs 500/-. SC/ST/PH/ employees of Coal India Ltd and subsidiaries are exempted from the payment of application fees.

HOW TO APPLY:
1. Eligible candidates have to apply only through the online registration system of Coal India. To apply, visit the careers with CIL section of our website www.coalindia.in and you should have a valid e-mail id while applying, which should be valid for one year.
2. The site will remain functional from 10:00 am of 21st May 2012 to 11:59 PM of 11th June 2012. However, the candidates should complete the on line application at the earliest in order to avoid site congestion.
3. Candidates will have to apply for only for one discipline for which he/she is eligible.
4. Candidates willing to apply must first download and print the SBI Challan form from CIL's web portal for submitting the application fee.
5. Candidates will have to register for the online application before starting to fill the application form. On clicking the "Apply Online" link the registration page will open. Detailed instructions for filling the form will be given under the "Instructions" link above the Registration page.
6. Before applying, candidates should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria and norms mentioned in this advertisement.
7. Before starting to fill the online application form candidates should keep the application fee payment through SBI challan details ready.
8. After applying online, candidate is required to print the application form with unique registration number generated by the system. Candidates are required to send the hard copy of the application form along with required enclosures(self attested recent passport size photograph securely pasted in the space provided on the application form, Company's copy of the SBI challan (in original), qualifying degree provisional or degree certificate, caste/disability certificate wherever applicable by ordinary post only to: Post Bag No. 43 G.P.O, Kolkata-700001 on or before 18th June 2011. Please superscribe the envelop on top as " MT-(Discipline name)". It is important to note that, your candidature will be considered only if we receive the hard copy of the application forms along with the required certificates/enclosures on or before the last date. All candidates are advised to note that, CIL or subsidiary company offices will not accept any hard copy applications and it must be mailed to post bag address only.
9. Candidates are advised to keep several copies of the passport size photograph pasted by them on the application form, handy since the same photograph is to be used for subsequent documents, if shortlisted for interview.
10. The company will not be responsible for any postal delay/loss in transit in submission of documents within specified time.
11. If a candidate cannot fill the online application form in single attempt, he / she can log in again and complete filling from the last saved status. However, candidates must complete filling the form and submit the same before 11:59 PM of 11th June 2012 i.e. the last date for online application and hard copies to reach before the last date specified above.
