Q. Which
Banks am I eligible to apply from ?
Ans. As per the notification you can apply to only
that state’s RRB’s whose local language
you had as a subject in your class Xth
board exams, so your options are limited in this case.
For e.g. you had
Marathi as a subject and not Hindi, then you can only apply from Maharashtra.
However
this condition does not apply for the posts of Officer Scale 2 and Scale 3
posts as per the notification
Q. I had
Punjabi ( but not Hindi) as a subject in my Class Xth board exams, but I know
how to read, write and speak Hindi, can I apply to Uttar Pradesh RRBs?
Ans. No, Language Proficiency is
defined by Subjects studied in class Xth
Board exams only , It does not
matter how good you are practically in a
language, you need to have the formal educational qualification to be eligible
for this examination.

1.* Data is collected from various source,
while we have made every effort to collate
correct information, no guarantee is
made of its accuracy
2. This is an indicative table only, banks can
vary their requirements in future years,
the data pertains to 2012-13 and is
not a definitive indicator for 2013-14.
Of course,
these vacancies are previous years’ vacancies, they may vary this year
in
accordance with banks requirements,
Q. Shall
I opt for “Hindi” or “English” in the examination, I am conversant with both.
Ans. Ideally you should opt for the language
with which you are comfortable with,
However, if you are opting for Hindi you
should be well aware that not much
information is available in terms of
Books, Study Material, previous papers etc.
so there is very little you can
prepare from. Also be aware that “Hindi”, in terms
of the examination implies
“Academic Hindi”, so you should be aware of all
the grammar rules, synonyms and
antonyms in Hindi, just like in English.
Mere oral knowledge of Hindi is
not enough
So if you are not aware of these Hindi nuances
you could have a tough time in the
examination. On the other hand English is
well researched by books, authors and
coaching institutes and the pattern of
the questions and the difficulty level is well
understood, in the form of test
series, previous papers etc.
So we will suggest English, however the
ultimate decision is left to you.
Q. I am preparing for IBPS PO and IBPS Clerk,
should I apply for this examination ?
Ans. Yes of course, you should be aware that
most of these RRB’s are sponsored by major
banks such as Bank of Baroda, Bank
of India, Canara Bank etc., so it is like any other
public sector bank job, the
only point to note here is that your posting will be in rural areas.
For
candidates from smaller cities and villages it is an ideal opportunity to
get a
public sector bank job close to their respective hometown.
In any case, even if you are not interested in
joining a RRB, there is no harm in giving the
examination, it will be valuable
practice for IBPS PO and Clerk examinations coming
up later in the year. The
syllabus is practically the same and the examination is also
online, so no harm
in trying, it will cost you Rs 600/- at the most.
Q. I am from a Metro City/ Big City , should I
apply for this examination given that
the posting will be in rural areas ?
Ans. If you are not interested in RRB’s , we
will still recommend that you apply for this
, since IBPS is conducting this
examination, the questions will be of similar difficulty
and pattern as that of
IBPS PO/Clerk and Specialist Officer, so you can treat this as
valuable
practice and test yourself in real examination conditions.
In any case there is no harm applying, it will
only set you back by Rs 600/- at the most,
you can always treat this as a back
up option, in case you do not succeed in the other
examinations. The world of
today is a world of competition, you must avail and
grab each and every
opportunity which you get.
